Tri Delta Philanthropy

Tri Delta’s chosen philanthropy is Children’s Cancer Charities. In conjunction with this effort, Tri Delta enjoys a partnership of the heart with St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Tri Delta’s philanthropy allows chapters and members to choose to support a local project like children’s hospital or a cancer camp and to support the efforts of St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Whatever the choice, Tri Deltas are joining together to offer financial and volunteer contributions to the research and treatment of children with cancer. Together Tri Delta is making a difference.

Giving to others is part of the Tri-Delta life. It brings people together and allows us to grow closer as sisters and stronger as women.

About St. Jude Children's Hospital
St. Jude is a pediatric treatment and research facility that works with children that have catastrophic illnesses at no cost to the patient. All children are accepted for treatment regardless of the family's ability to pay
. Our Philanthropy Chair, Emily Viviani, visited St. Jude in Memphis, TN in June of 2008 to learn more about St. Jude and how the Gamma Eta Chapter can help! (www.stjude.org)

"Sincerely Yours" Letter Writing Campaign
St. Jude Children's Research Hospital is Tri Delta's national philanthropy. To support this worthy cause, the members of our chapter send out letters to friends and family seeking donations.

Alex's Lemonade Stand
Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation evolved from a young cancer patient's front yard lemonade stand to a nationwide fundraising movement to find a cure for childhood cancer. Since Alexandra "Alex" Scott (1996-2004) set up her front-yard stand at the age of four, more than $25 million has been raised towards fulfilling her dream of finding a cure for all children with cancer. Delta Dodge ball
Members of the Gamma Eta chapter sponsor an annual Dodge ball tournament to benefit St. Jude Children's Research hospital each year. Members of the University community join the ladies of Tri Delta to raise money and awareness of childhood cancer. The 2008 Delta Dodge ball Champion is Sigma Alpha Epsilon!

Trick or Treat Street (TOTS)
TOTS is an annual initiative sponsored by the University of Richmond Panhellenic Council and Interfraternal Coucnil. Trick or Treat Street was begun in 1999 to create a safe, fun and festive atmosphere for children to spend an afternoon with their families while raising money for a local philanthropy. This year
proceeds will benefit 3-year-old Cole Hafer of Richmond, whose family and friends are raising money through the Children's Organ Transplant Association so he can have a life-saving liver transplant.
